Residential Septic System Design

19 Sawin Street, Sherborn, MA

A three-bedroom residential dwelling on a small, level lot with private well water and nearby wetlands. There were several abutting wells surrounding the property, leaving only a small area in the front yard in which to place a new septic system.  The soil conditions on this property were very poor, with a 24-inch water table and slow percolation rates.  The new owner of the property did not want a huge, mounded septic system directly in front of his house. By utilizing an “enhanced treatment” system and knowledge of the state and local regulations, GLM was able to permit a fully compliant septic system in the front yard, eliminating the need for a mound and maintaining the property’s aesthetics and usefulness.

Services provided: Topographic surveying, soil testing, subsurface sewage disposal system design using enhanced treatment technologies, construction oversight, and Local permitting.
